June 6, 2015 (SATURDAY!) Tahoe City/The Boatworks Paint-Out

Date:           June 6, 2015 (SATURDAY)

Place:          The Boatworks Mall at Tahoe City
Address:      760 North Lake Boulevard, Tahoe City, CA
Parking:       plenty of free parking

Meet:           On the lawn next to the boat works

Sorry I don't have photos at this time.  Anyway, you can paint boats, the lake, the beach, etc. - all around the Boatworks Mall.  I don't know when people fill up the parking lot, but it is a Saturday, so I think 9:30 am will ensure a parking spot.

Ideas of what to bring:

  • camera
  • artgear
  • something to carry it over the sand
  • beach chair?
  • art umbrella?
  • food and drink or money to dine out
  • hat, sunscreen, sunglasses
  • check forecast for appropriate layers

Directions: From South Reno:  take Mt. Rose Hwy to Incline Village, Right on NV 28, continue about 12 miles to Tahoe City.

From North Reno:  take I-80 to Truckee, take Hwy 89 south to Tahoe City, go straight through the light onto North Lake Blvd.  Less than a mile look for the Boatworks - Jakes sign on your right.

Be sure to drop by James Harold Galleries in the Boatworks Mall.  Some of our artists have work there!

Cancellation - May 18, 2015 paint-out

Hi everyone,

Monday, May 18, 2015 paint-out is cancelled.  Even if  we got lucky and didn't get rain during the paint-out, it would most likely be muddy getting around.  It is wonderful to have rain, we really need it.  I will look into rescheduling the Minden ranch paint-out for next week.  Stay tuned.....

May 4, 2015 Oxbow Nature Area Paint-Out

This was winter or fall - it should be greener now!
NO HOST

Time:          9:30 am
Place:          Oxbow Nature Study Area, Reno
Parking:       Yes

At this time of year there are probably singing birds, new leaves on the cottonwood trees, interesting vistas, the river, cattails, grasses, a small lake/pond.  There is plenty of parking and flat trails and boardwalks.  The home before you enter the park has some livestock that are fun to paint too.

Directions:  Take the Keystone Exit off of I-80 and turn south onto Keystone Ave.  Continue to W. Second Street and turn Right (West).  After several blocks Second Street bears left and becomes Dickerson Road.  There is no sign indicating but just go that way.  You travel through a semi industrial area and the road dead-ends into Oxbow Nature Study Area.
What to bring (same as always):
·                  camera
·                  cell phone
·                  drinking water and snack or lunch
·                  painting gear
·                  carts work on boardwalks and paths
·                  hat, sunscreen, sunglasses
