In Memorium - Pat Edwards

We were all so shocked and saddened at hearing of our good friend and artist, Pat Edwards' passing.  She will be truly missed.  She was one of our "regulars" for about three years - year round.  She and her husband Phil would travel long distances from Lake Tahoe to paint with us.  She participated in our shows and was very enthusiastic.

She was always cheerful, friendly, and always had a tip or two to share from IPad art apps to anything art-related.  She was an accomplished pastel painter.

A memorial service will be held as follows:

August 13th Memorial Service at North Tahoe Event Center

There will be a memorial service for Pat on August 13th, at the North Tahoe Event Center, 8318 North Lake Boulevard, outside on the Lakefront Terrace, at 1:00p.m., near the beach she loved so well. All are welcome. No food will be served, but soda, coffee and water will be available. Please let us know if you will be able to be with us and if you would like to share during this time that we will be together remembering Mom.

Five Upcoming Paint-Outs

Hi painters,

I'm glad you are all getting jazzed about planned paint-outs.  For YOU, I have set the next 5 weeks up - even though I may not be able to attend.  I will be getting rotator cuff surgery soon so I will not be able to attend most of these dates.  But, most of you know each other and if you see a new face - be welcoming and friendly!!!!

Here is the schedule for escaping the heat of the Nevada high desert:

July 31, 2017:  Sand Harbor State Park, Lake Tahoe.
August 7, 2017:  Martis Valley, Truckee, CA
August 14, 2017:  Bliss State Park, Lake Tahoe
August 21, 2017:  Tahoe Meadows, Mount Rose Hwy
August 28, 2017:  Eagle Falls at Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe

Meeting time:  from 8am to 9:00 am for best parking choice
State Park entrance fees:  (around $10) and no dogs
Regional parks (Eagle Falls parking lot) has a fee, but on the hwy there is no fee.

For directions to these places, go to the blog search box and type in the location and "search".  It will take you to all the blog entries for that location in the past where there is more information.

Have fun everyone!  If you know other artists, carpool if you can - it is more fun!

Monday, July 24, 2017 Paint-Out Frenchman's Lake

Paint-Out at Frenchman's Lake

Date:  Monday, July 24, 2017
Time:  9:00 am
Place:  Frenchman's Lake - see map below

I will be camping at Frenchman's Lake this weekend.  The lake is full this year and I am curious how it will look.  I actually don't know the entire lake and vista potential, but I have been several times to one place that I recommend we meet.  It is where Frenchman's Creek goes under the road and empties into the lake where volcanic rocks are.  There is area to pull off the road and park on both sides of the road.  On the other side of the road there is a lovely meadow vista with the creek running through it.

From Reno, take 395 north, then go west on 70, then turn right in Chilcoot to go to Frenchmans Lake (there is a sign).  When you get to the lake, go left, and where you see the black lava rock and water inlet, this is it.

As always, if this place doesn't inspire you, try driving around the lake and fine your muse.
