Hi painters, sorry I am so late in setting paint-outs....my computer crashed and I just got a new one....starting over takes time....

Monday, April 9 and Tuesday April 10: Rancho San Rafael Arboretum, Reno at 10:00 am

Monday, April 16 and Tuesday April 17: River Fork Ranch Regional Park, Genoa, at 10:00 am

Monday April 23 and Tuesday April 24: Evans Creek NatureTrail, Reno at 10:00 am

Monday April 30 and Tuesday May 1: Davis Creek Regional Park, Washoe Valley, at the pond at 10:00 am

Started in Sept. 2012, this is a group of landscape painters of all abilities and mediums (oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, drawing mediums), who wish to get together for paint-outs. What is plein air painting?

En plein air (French) translates to "in the open air". It just means painting in outdoor daylight. The French Impressionistic movement in the 1800's brought a group of painters outside to "paint light and color", which rebelled against the style of the French Academy. This new artistic style then came to California and became known as California Impressionism or California plein air painting. Paintings done in the outdoors are often "fresh" and not "over-worked", as compared to studio work, which the artist is free to work as long as he/she wishes.
